  • The existing spreadsheet system needed to be improved for their unique requirements, which included precise inventory management and real-time sales tracking. This old system was prone to errors and inefficiencies, particularly given the custom nature of jewelry items which necessitates meticulous tracking
  • Employees, many of whom had been with the company for over 20 years, were accustomed to the old system and showed resistance to newer tools and technologies for sales and inventory management

After extensive discussions with the client and a thorough investigation of their needs, we concluded that a custom ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution was necessary.

The implementation of the custom ERP system streamlined inventory management and sales processes significantly. Here’s a breakdown of how the custom solution by Tokyo Techies functions:

  • The barcode scanning feature enables real-time tracking of products as they leave the warehouse and arrive at various store branches without manual data entry. This ensures that sales and inventory movements are monitored accurately. When an item is sold, the inventory database is updated right away, allowing for smooth sales and inventory management.

  • The system developed is a web-based app and despite being a web-based app and not a native one, we successfully incorporated the barcode scanning feature, highly improving the company’s ability to manage its sales and stock records efficiently.

  • The similar look and feel to Excel spreadsheets was maintained by using rows and columns, which facilitated an easier transition for employees accustomed to Excel. This design choice provided a comfortable transition that incorporated automation features, enhancing their experience and efficiency.

  • Employees adapted quickly to the new interface, which was designed to be user-friendly and accessible on any device via a browser. As a result, the company experienced improved operational efficiency and better inventory control, leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
